Welcome to the Fly Care Room.
Place a virtual fruit fly in a small care environment. Change companionship, enrichment, light and food while watching its movement and evidence-inspired response proxies develop over fourteen simulated days.
A room built for flies.
Movement changes with the model’s environment settings; it is not recorded animal behavior.
See what “complete” really means.
The official rendering shows detailed neuron segmentation. Our interactive layer below is the lighter soma-position map; its colors are illustrative proxies, not predicted firing.

Load the position file to plot the 140,638 neurons with published soma coordinates. The other 26,062 records remain indexed without invented positions.
Grounded in experiments. Open about uncertainty.
A 2021 study reported that chronic—but not acute—social isolation reduced sleep and increased feeding in fruit flies, with activity in specific peptidergic neurons. Earlier work linked isolation-related sleep loss with cellular stress. Results depend on protocol, sex, age and timescale, so this simulator displays hypotheses rather than conclusions.
